New Mansfield Officer Excited To Start His Dream Job

MANSFIELD, OH - Meet Officer Robert Zackery Whitcomb, the newest addition to the Mansfield Police Department.

Whitcomb's swearing-in ceremony occurred Tuesday afternoon with family, friends, and coworkers in attendance. Mansfield police welcomed Whitcomb to the department and presented him with his badge. Mansfield Chief of Police Ken Coontz and Assistant Chief Keith Porch said a few words, welcoming Whitcomb to the department with words of encouragement and praise.

"I'm emotional, excited, nervous... it's my dream place of employment to work for Mansfield Police Department," said Whitcomb.

Whitcomb is a previous New Washington Police Officer and has nearly a decade of military experience. Coming from the United States Army, Officer Whitcomb is confident he has the right experience to get the job done. Whitcomb is approaching his tenth year in the army and is planning on re-enlisting.

    The Richland County Sheriff's Office announced on Tuesday that the Crestview Schools Board of Education and the Sheriff's Office entered into an agreement to provide a full-time school resource officer to the Crestview School District for the 2019- 2020 school year.
