MANSFIELD, OH - Inventors and entrepreneurs tested their mettle at OSU Mansfield's Founders' Hall on Tuesday night for Richland Idea Audition, a Shark Tank-style event in which contestants test their ideas against interested judges.

"We have about 30 contestants who have been pitching their ideas in the preliminary audition. We're going to have six finalists," said Jodie Perry, President and CEO of the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce. "They have four minutes to pitch their business idea to a panel of esteemed judges, and then we're going to give away some money."

The judges' criteria were twofold: Judges weighed the pros and cons of each pitch, seeing if they were financially viable and sustainable, and the delivery of the pitch itself, where each entrepreneur would be criticized for their ability to "sell" the idea to the panel.

"We're giving away $5,000 to first place, $2,500 to second, and $1,000 to third," Perry said. "This has been a really collaborative project with a number of organizations working on it, including the Richland County Foundation who put the prize money up tonight, our organizations, SCORE, The Ohio State University at Mansfield, the Small Business Development Center, and Braintree Business Development Center."

The winners were announced later that night. In first place with the $5,000 prize was Dr. Donnamarie Packer and Peter Sandwall with their pitch "MyHealth MyMammo", along with Joe Chapman, George Fleiner, and Kyle Stanton's "JKR Guitars" taking the $ 2,500 second-place prize. Third place was awarded to Todd Kelley with his pitch, "Aspire Technologies."
