Man Arrested After Beating 75-Year-Old Woman In Bucyrus

BUCYRUS, OH - A Mansfield man has been arrested after allegedly beating an elderly woman with a metal object.

24-year-old Christopher A. Barber was arrested by Mansfield Police Officers late Monday evening for assaulting a 75-year-old woman with a metal utensil used to clean up after pets.

The attack occurred on January 8th at the victim's home on Dudley Street. The victim alleges the attack was unprovoked and came from behind. She is currently being treated for her injuries at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Her status is currently unknown.

Barber was transported to the Crawford County Jail after being arrested by Mansfield Police and was arraigned at the Crawford County Courthouse on Tuesday morning. His bond was set at $500,000.
