Amish Man Falls To Death Off Barn In Ashland County

ASHLAND COUNTY, OH - An 46-year-old Amish man has passed away following a fall from a roof of a barn Wednesday morning. 

At 8:46 AM, the Ashland County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding an Amish man falling off of a barn at 383 County Road 281. Chief Deputy Carl Richert arrived on scene and located the male laying on his back. Richert found the male was not breathing, and started administering CPR. 

EMS Squads arrived on scene and transported the male to Lodi Community Hospital, where he was prounounced deceased. 

The victim has been identified as Eli Hershberger, age 46. 

The male fell from an estimated 18 feet from the top of the barn. 

A cause of the fall is still under investigation, however Chief Deputy Richert states that the male was conducting carpentry work at the location. 

The case remains under investigation.
