Crawford County First Responders Receive $600,000 Grant

CRAWFORD COUNTY, OH - Wednesday afternoon several fire departments from around Crawford County gathered together to receive a grant for over $600,000 from Ohio Fire Marshal Jess Hussey.

According to the Ohio Fire Marshal's web site, the MARCS Grant is available to fire departments that serve 25,000 or less. The money will be used to upgrade the current radio system to one that is compatible with the Multi-Agency Radio Communication System (MARCS) operated by the State of Ohio. This will ensure reliable communications to anywhere in the county.

Funds were distributed to each department as follows:

Bucyrus Fire Department $49,984.67

Chatfield Vol. Fire Department $48,782.04

Crestline Fire Department $49,740.75

Galion Fire Department $49,401.24

New Washington Fire Department $49,856.31

Tiro-Auburn Vol. Fire Department $49,554.71

Bucyrus Twp. Fire Department $37,343.18

Dallas Twp. Fire Department $49,459.56

Holmes Twp. Vol. Fire Department $49,280.30

Liberty Twp. Fire Department $49,946.38

Lykens Twp. Fire Department $37,182.97

Whetstone Twp. Fire Department $48,973.06

Jefferson Twp. Vol. Fire Department $49,973.41
