MANSFIELD - Third-grade students from Sherman Elementary's leadership program got out of the classroom today to visit the residents at Dayspring Assisted Living.

Students showed up to Dayspring clad in orange shirts with eggs to color, easter cards, and goodie bags full of candy for the residents and then spent the next two hours socializing with them, coloring their eggs and snacking on chips and drinks provided by Doc Stumbo of Graham Automall.

This is the 12th year the Sherman contingent has visited dayspring, most recently visiting on Valentine's Day. This tradition is one that puts smiles on everyone's faces. In addition to Valentine's Day and Easter, students visit around Christmastime as well as at the end of the school year for a cookout.

Kevin Stone, Third Grade Teacher at Sherman Elementary told WMFD Friday that the event is all about "spreading some Easter cheer and sharing a day" with the residents.
