ASHLAND, OH - The Ashland County Emergency Management Agency has announced the startup of a Community Response Team.

The Ohio Community Emergency Response Team educates volunteers about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster preparedness.

The team will offer a consistent approach to volunteer training and organization that first responders can rely on, and in turn, allow responders to focus on complex tasks that require their immediate attention.

The Ashland EMA is currently gauging community interest in the program and aims to start training in June.

Anyone interested in the program is asked to contact the Ashland EMA Main Office at 419-282-4272 or email mrafeld @ashlandcounty.org.
