MANSFIELD, OH - Authorities at the Richland County Sheriff's Office have released details from a death investigation at a residence on Touby Road.

According to the report, 67-year-old Aaron Wayne Beer was home alone when the incident occurred. Beer was cutting a tree with a chainsaw when the tree moved and trapped him face-down in the dirt. A family member who came to visit found the older man underneath the tree with only his legs visible.

The family member called 911 and used a backhoe to lift the tree from Beer while waiting for emergency services to arrive. Officers from the Richland County Sheriff's Office took photos of the scene and confirmed the death to family members who arrived shortly after. The autopsy results confirmed that Beer had asphyxiated from his entrapment and that there was not anything suspicious about the situation.
