MANSFIELD, OH - When Superintendent of Madison Schools Shelley Hildebrand was placed on administrative leave in September, parents and community members within the Madison Local Schools district were relieved.

Hildebrand had been a point of contention within the community for many, and was generally regarded as "not a good fit" for the district. On Thursday, the Madison Board of Education held a special meeting, where they made a final decision regarding Hildebrand and how to proceed.

"We're basically buying out her three-year contract," said Board of Education President Jeff Meyers. "With a few exceptions, it's pretty much paying her for the full three years that we agreed to on the contract. On another note, we are turning the page, getting ready to move on, and getting ready to do what needs to be done in our district."

The Board has named a new acting superintendent, John Thomas, who will step into his new role beginning on August 1st, 2019.
