MANSFIELD, OH- The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield wrapped up their Coolest Dog Competition Fundraiser by announcing the Coolest Dog of Richland County on Saturday.

The money raised during the fundraiser went to the purchase of a new mini bus for The Friendly House in Mansfield.

Jessica Dulle, Vice President of the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield said that the relationship between the Kiwanis Club and The Friendly House goes back a long way.

"We have been supporting the Friendly House since 1922, so almost from the beginning there's been this wonderful partnership and when we found out that there was a need for these buses to keep the programming going, we decided it was time to make that happen," Dulle said.

This was the Kiwanis Club of Mansfield's first time holding the Coolest Dog Competition and Dulle said that the community was very supportive of the fundraiser.

"We had 134 dogs register and we raised $15,541 for the friendly house," Dulle said.  "Thank you to the community. We've made a lot of friends along the way and we're very humbled."

The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield is not done fundraising for The Friendly House yet.  They play to hold another fundraiser soon to help purchase a second mini bus.

"The next  competition our club is going to launch is finding the Purrfect Cat in Richland County and the funds from that competition are going toward the second bus for The Friendly House, so we're not finished," Dulle said.
