MANSFIELD, OH - In its second year, the 179th Airlift Wing Herc Challenge saw two teams training together to prepare for the upcoming fall sports season. The Mansfield Senior High School and Shelby High School football teams ran a two-mile course, after which came push-ups, stairclimbing, sit-ups, tire flips, and a 200-yard sprint in an endurance test to build teamwork.

"The goal, in the end, is to have everybody finish," said Nick Alexander, a recruiter for the Air National Guard. "No matter how hard it is or where they're at, just finish the challenge, have fun and support each other."

"It pushes us harder as the year goes on to win," said Andre Hill, the Winner of the Herc Challenge. While exhausted, Hill was glad to have participated in the event, which was held by the 179th Airlift Wing and the Air National Guard. "It means a lot because they truly care about us, and everything we do. They believe in us to succeed in life."

Mansfield Senior High Football Coach Chioke Bradley says that the event helps push players to be the best that they can be.

"It's a great opportunity to get better," Bradley said. "Not only individually, but as a team. It's a great team-bonding event. You get an opportunity to develop leadership, to develop leaders within your team."
