MARION, OH- A suspect was captured on Wednesday after multiple shootings in Marion.

34-year Ernest Pope was arrested and is being held at the Multi County Correctional Facility.  He is being held on a parole violation and charges for both shootings are pending.

The first shooting occurred on July 13 at 1:30 am on South Prospect Street after a fight that broke out earlier at Gotham Bar on Center Street.  At least four shots were fired at a man as he ran up Prospect Street.

The second shooting occurred on July 16 at approximately 10:30 pm.  Shots were fired on North Prospect Street and upon their arrival, Marion Police found that nearly 20 shots had been fired into a residence.

No one was injured during either shooting, but property damage was reported.

Using video from inside Gotham Bar and Prospect Street at and around the time of the shootings as well as community tips, police found a single suspect.

Early Wednesday morning Marion police arrested Pope at his residence after receiving a tip that the armed suspect was located there.

26-year old Sylvester Green was also arrested and charged with obstructing justice.

In a press release, Marion Police chief Bill Collins said, "This is just another example of the hard work of the men and women of the Marion Police Department and the ideology of our MPACT Program of the Marion Police and the community working together to put these violent individuals behind bars."
