One Dead, One Injured After Shooting In Madison Township

MANSFIELD, OH- One person is dead and another sustained serious injuries after a shooting occurred in Madison Township Thursday night. 

On August 8th at 9:29 PM the Richland County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from the 1100 block of Fleming Falls Road in Mansfield, Ohio. The call reported a female yelling that she had been shot. 

Once deputies arrived on scene at 9:34 PM, they located the female victim with multiple life threatening injuries. The female was removed and transported to OhioHealth Mansfield. The current condition of the female is unknown at this time. 

The investigation also resulted in deputies locating a deceased male with an apparent gunshot wound. Sheriff's Office personnel secured the scene, and based on initial investigative information the Sheriff's Office believes that the incident to be contained. 

An autopsy is currently in process on the deceased male. The identity of the male is not being released at this time. 

While in emergency response to the incident, a Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a two vehicle injury accident at the intersection of State route 430 and Illinois Avenue. 

The Richland County Sheriff's Deputy was driving a 2018 Ford Taurus north on Illinois Avenue with emergency lights and sirens on when it struck a 2005 Saturn mini-van that was traveling west on SR 430 while traveling through the intersection. 

The Deputy was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield for injuries.

The driver of the Saturn was 58-year-old Anna Rebel of Mansfield, Ohio. 

Anna was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield and treated for injuries. The passenger in the Saturn, Gina Woodfall, 31-years-old of Mansfield, Ohio was also transported to OhioHealth to be treated for injuries. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash. Madison Township Fire and EMS, Mifflin Township Fire and EMS, and Mansfield City Fire and EMS Responded to the scene and assisted. The intersection was closed while authorities worked to clear the scene.  

The Richland County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public to contact them if they have information concerning the investigation. Anyone with information may call the Major Crimes Section at 419-774-5610.
