Ashland City Schools Board of Education listened to a presentation, during Monday night's board meeting, about how to participate in an energy upgrade project. Through the state program, House Bill 264, school districts are able to borrow money to upgrade multiple energy systems, as long as the upgrades pay back the cost in savings in less than fifteen years. During the board meeting, members considered to energy-saving plans that each cost more than $3-million. No final decision was made. In other business, Board President Rick Ewing gave an update on the superintendent search. The search began with 16 candidates, which has now been narrowed down to four. Those four candidates participated in a community forum on May 5. Community members, business members and staff comprised three focus groups that rated the applicants. All four candidates were brought in four a second interview last week. The board had an executive session Monday night to further discuss the position. And, Ewing gave an update on the treasurer's position. He said the position has been posted and applicants must apply by the end of May. He hopes to begin interview by the beginning of June.
