The Mansfield City Schools Board of Education is continuing the reduction in force in district.

The board Tuesday night announced the suspension of certified contracts of 29 teachers. In March, the board voted to cut 57 positions, but after further review of enrollment numbers the figure was reduced to 29.

Supt. Dr. Lloyd Martin said $1.8 million has been made in staff cuts since the process began and more than $320,000 of that amount was from cuts in administration.

Martin said the board is working with other districts to develop a job fair to help those teachers find employment.

A Springmill Intermediate School teacher charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles was among the teachers cut.

Anita Reehal was removed from her classroom on Feb. 3 for allegedly talking with students about sex acts. She has pleaded innocent to the first-degree misdemeanor charge. If convicted she could face up to six months in jail.

Her trial is scheduled for June 22.
