The Greentown Preservation Association held an open house over the weekend at the historic Delaware Indian village site of Greentown located 2488 Ohio 39 in Perrysville, in southern Ashland County.

The event highlighted history of the village of Greentown and honored the early native Americans and pioneers who settled in the region between 1745 and 1812.

Organization chairman William Jones said the site was recently offered for purchase to the Greentown Preservation Association for $150,000 by the estate of its recent owner. Jones said fundraising is underway for the purchase of the land.

Jones said a board of trustees representing private, local, state, cultural, archaeological, geological, historical, educational and philanthropic interests is being formed to guide future development.
