A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday morning as discount grocer Aldi held an open house and store grand opening for its new replacement store. It's located at 1033 Commerce Parkway off U.S. 250 East.

The new Aldi store replaces the former facility on Claremont Avenue on the other side of town, which opened in January 1993.

Aldi is a select assortment discount grocer. More than 1,000 U.S. Aldi stores are located in 30 states, primarily in Kansas to the east coast, serving more than 18 million customers each month. Aldi was named 2009 Retailer of the Year by P.L. Buyer.
