The United States Department of Defense has confirmed a Loudonville High School Graduate from Lakeville serving in the military was killed Sunday in Afghanistan.

Specialist Damon Winkleman, 23, a U.S. Army Medic, died from injuries he received in a non-combat, vehicle rollover accident in Zabul Province. Also killed in the accident was Specialist Corey Kowall, 20, of Murfeesboro, Tennessee, a U.S. Army Infantryman.

Winkleman and Kowall were members of the 82nd Airborne Division, assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. 

Winkleman was a 2004 graduate of Loudonville High School. Funeral arrangements for Damon Winkleman are being handled by Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home in Loudonville and are incomplete.
