A "Safety Corridor" along the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad in Wayne County will see five grade crossings upgraded with modern flashing lights and gates.

Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Federal Stimulus dollars will go toward the crossing improvements at the following five crossings on the rail line between Smithville and Orrville. They are Chippewa, Egypt, Leichty and Paradise Roads and Northeast Street.

The Ohio Rail Development Commission has authorized the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad to proceed with engineering and construction at the crossings.
