Mount Zion Lutheran Church on Mt. Zion Road in Lucas, is the site of the new Lucas Area Food Pantry. Six rural churches in the area are working with the food pantry to help those in need.

Lucas Area Food Pantry Administrator Janet Grubach said the Lucas Area Ministerial Association or LAMA, teamed up with the Cleveland Area Food Bank to open the food pantry.

Grubach said the pantry serves Washington, Monroe and Mifflin Townships. She said anyone in need of food in the surrounding areas is also welcomed.

The food pantry is open the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. She said in November and December the pantry will only be opened for one Saturday only. The pantry will be opened November 21 and December 19. She said the pantry will double the amount of food given away on those dates.
