The Ashland County Commissioners Thursday put threw their support behind CSX Railroad using federal stimulus dollars to replace two bridges in Sullivan Township but the commissioners say they do not want to own the structures.

The commissioners heard from Sullivan Township Trustee Mark Hickey who said the trustees also support CSX replacing the bridges, but agree with the commissioners decision not to own the bridges, a recommendation made by county engineer Ed Meixner last week.

Commissioner Kim Edwards said if they owned the bridges, they also could have to potentially pay an inspection fee to CSX to inspect their own bridge.
