The Ninth Annual Lewis Wechter Memorial 5-K Run was held in New Washington in Crawford County this past weekend.

The run is held in the memory of Lewis Wechter by his son and daughter-in-law after he passed away from cancer. This year, runners participating voted to give proceeds in the amount of $2,000 to the Richland County Cancer Foundation.

Accepting the check from Christian Wechter was cancer foundation treasurer Frank Russo.

Following the run, volunteers feed the participating runners at the New Washington American Legion Post. Russo said the money donated will be put to good use. He said the Richland County Cancer Foundation is not a research foundation, it's helping people who have cancer.
