Ashland County Board of Elections chairwoman Bonnie Manos met the county commissioners Thursday to talk about the 2010 budget.

In a prepared statement, Manos said the board simply cannot operate next year on a $302,000 proposed budget by the commissioners.

Ashland County Commissioners said the board of elections has to do a better job of managing its budget. The commissioners said next year's department budgets will be tight because of a lack of revenue and expected loss of funds from the state.
