Ashland County is joining with 58 counties and a non-profit organization to try to secure federal stimulus funding for increased county internet broadband access.

Ashland County information technology manager Jeff Beebe told the commisisoners Tuesday, if the federal money is attained, 81 miles of internet broadband capacity would be installed throughout the county. He said Ashland County needs to partner with OneCommuity, a non-profit agency in Cleveland.

Beebe said the counties, including Ashland, will find out if the project has been accepted by December.
