The true meaning of giving came through once again in Mansfield as St. Peter's Catholic Church opened its doors to the community.  The church staged its 17th Annual Thanksgiving Day Luncheon, complete with turkey, stuffing and all of the other fixins' cooked up by church volunteers.

St. Peter's luncheon coordinator Dick Renie says they were expecting to serve upwards of 1,000 meals with 450 meals being delivered to homes of shut-ins and others.  He says it would be a record number this year and cited the current economic conditions as a factor.

The church is used to serving a lot of people, according to Renie.  Their "Feed the Needy" program offers free meals to people the first week of every month.
