An investigation is underway into the cause of a fire that damaged a home in Galion Monday afternoon.
Galion Fire Department Lt. Greg Peoples said firefighters were called to 503 Grand St. around 1:20 p.m.
"Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows in the rear of the home," Peoples said.
"The owner of the home and her grandson made it out safely before firefighters arrived and were not injured," Peoples said.
Peoples said the fire may have started in the basement of the home.
The Bucyrus Fire Department and Crestline Rescue Squad provided mutual aid at the scene
Peoples said one firefighter received minor burns and was taken to Galion Community Hospital Avita Health System, where he was treated and released.
