Yvette Selim Fahmy, daughter of Selim and Marie Massad, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 22, 2017, following a long illness. Yvette was born in Cairo, Egypt, on August 27, 1934.

She married Nabil Fahmy on February 15, 1957, and they moved to Kingston, Ontario, Canada, where she learned her first words of English watching daytime television. Yvette and Nabil came to the United States and eventually settled in Mansfield where they lived for 52 years.

Yvette loved her home in Mansfield and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. She was an avid bowler in her youth and enjoyed reading and being surrounded by friends and family. There were no strangers in Yvette's world. She was outgoing and fun-loving and was happiest around the people she loved, laughing and sharing a glass of Pinot Grigio.

She is survived by her loving sons, Dr. Anthony (Dr. Julie Tome) Fahmy, Fred Fahmy, Dr. Andrew (Lynn) Fahmy; her sister, Odette (Jean) Karout; and her grandchildren, Jackie, Monique, Matthew and Andy, all of whom she cherished. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Yvette was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Nabil.

Yvette was a loving wife, good friend, and perfect mother. Her love knew no bounds. She was dearly loved by her family. We will miss her every day, but we are eternally grateful for the unconditional love she gave so freely.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be recited Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 104 W. First St., Mansfield. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. The family respectfully requests no flowers for the service. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve Yvette's family.
