Eugene N. Freiheit, 78, of Mansfield, died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at his home. Born April 16, 1931 in Mansfield, he was the son of Nick and Theresa (Schnuerer) Freiheit. He served in the Ohio Air National Guard for 11 years. Eugene had owned and operated Freiheit Grocery on North Mulberry St. until the late 1970’s then went to work at Holiday Inn where he was currently employed. He had also worked at Interstate Motel as a waiter and Jeffrey’s House of Brides. One of his favorite pastimes was making floral arrangements. Eugene also enjoyed people and yard work.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Nick and Cora Freiheit of Tallmadge; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Ralph Bowman of Mansfield; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Freiheit.
