Megan Mahoney joined the WMFD news team in September 2006 as a general assignment reporter. Megan graduated from The University of Akron’s school of communication in May 2006, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Radio/TV and News. Megan began her broadcasting career at The University of Akron’s radio station WZIP-FM, which is the number 1 rated college-run radio station in the U.S. There she worked as a news reporter for two years and eventually became the news director for the station in 2004. Megan also participated in ZTV, The University of Akron’s student television program. She worked as a reporter for two years and had the opportunity to anchor the campus news show for two years. In 2005 she was able to serve as the new producer for the campus news show. During her time a producer the show was awarded a National Bronze Telly Award in the category of news.

During Megan’s time as a student she interned with WEWS in 2005. She worked on the morning broadcast called "Good Morning Cleveland." She was also able to serve as an election stringer in 2003 for WEWS. Megan also interned at WMFD her final two semesters as a senior. After graduation, she was shortly hired by WMFD.

At WMFD, Megan is a general assignment reporter, part-time weather forecaster and anchor for Newswatch at 5, 6, 10 and 11 p.m.

In her spare time, Megan enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling and of course shopping.
