In all likelihood, the Mid-Buckeye Conference boys soccer championship will be decided Tuesday evening at Comstock Field in Mansfield. State-ranked Mansfield Christian will put their 7-0-2 mark on the line against visiting 6-0-1 Kidron Central Christian in a battle of undefeated's.

"They're now in our conference so it's a conference championship for the most part," Flames head coach Jesse Rider says, acknowledging his team still has another league game remaining. "We've got some other work to do outside of that, but this is usually the top two teams so we're excited to be a part of this game."

Mansfield Christian are the defending MBC champions, having swept the conference a season ago and blitzing the Comets 7-1 at their place. The loss was one of only two regular-season defeats suffered by Central Christian in 2015, setting up an intriguing rematch between the familiar foes this year.

"We're excited to go out and play definitely a top ten team in our division and just prove our stuff at this point in the year," Flames senior goalkeeper JP Trueblood says. "Prove that we're peaking at the right time."

Trueblood has been solid in net thus far for MC, saving 29 of 36 shots on frame this season. The Flames are allowing just 0.77 goals per match through nine games outscoring their opponents 44-7. Incredibly, the Comets have been even more dominant than their MBC foe, however, shutting out all seven of their competitors in 2016 with a 41-0 goal differential.

"That's definitely been a focal point you know, that's definitely been stressed," says Flames senior midfielder Danny White. "We're not scared of it but we definitely know that we need to definitely take care of our shots. Every opportunity we get we need to make sure we hit well and we possess the ball and we just play our game."

Whites believes if MC can "do all the little things right" that they have a good shot to come out victorious.
