Fatal Crash Takes The Life Of 17-Year-Old Shiloh Boy

MANSFIELD, OH - The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal car crash that occurred on State Route 61 at Dininger Road around 3:19 a.m., Thursday. 

The crash occurred when a 2009 gray Chevy Silverado traveling westbound on Dininger Road failed to stop at the stop sign at State Route 61. The pickup was struck by a 2005 black Ford Freestyle SUV traveling southbound on State Route 61. The impact directed the SUV off the west side of the road and into a field and the pickup truck flipped over coming to rest in the ditch on the west side of SR 61.

The driver of the Silverado 17-year-old, Dylan Patton of Shiloh, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another passenger, 16-year-old Brody Brown of Shelby, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford, 41-year-old April Picklesimer, was flown to Grant Hospital in Columbus with non-life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, 51-year-old Earl Kirkwood, was transported to OhioHealth Shelby with non-life threatening injuries. 

Shelby Police Department, Plymouth Police Department, Richland County Sheriff's Office, Shelby Fire EMS and Plymouth Fire and EMS all assisted on scene. State Route 61 was closed in all directions for approximately 60 minutes. 

Alcohol is not a factor in the crash and the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
