SHELBY, OH - A Shelby Police Cruiser was involved in an accident when another driver in a van attempting to make a U-Turn pulled in front of it.

The accident occurred on West Main Street. The driver of the 2007 Honda Odyssey Van was traveling westbound, with the Black 2017 Ford Explorer Police car, driven by Shelby Police Department Captain Barry Argo, following.

The van turned right into a side parking lot, and then immediately turned left back onto the road, causing the police car to try to turn away from the vehicle, but was unable and struck the front left side of the van.

Captain Argo was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield Workable for breath and urine testing. According to Shelby Police Chief Lance Coombs, the urine test came back negative.

Kenya S. Mullholand was the driver of the van. Mullholand refused treatment, and her passengers - Susan Field and Kenneth Field - did not sustain any injuries.

According to the police report, Mullholand stated she "did not see the other vehicle before impact" because she didn't look, but then stated she had "glanced into her driver mirror" and also said she "didn't know what had hit her until it was parked in the gas station lot."

It is unknown if charges have been filed.
