ASHLAND, OH - One of Ashland's newest attractions, Uniontown Brewing Company, only opened in December - but already, it's becoming a popular local spot to grab some drinks and a bite to eat.

Doug and Anna Reynolds, the owners of Uniontown Brewing Co., spoke with WMFD about the bar's inception and how it came about.

"We just opened right before Christmas," said Anna. "We are a full-service restaurant and brewery. Our menu - we started kind of small, and we're going to keep it that way for a little bit. Doug's been in the food industry for a while and he's been brewing, so it seems like a good place to start, especially here in Ashland."

Doug talked about the dedication to local history that the brewery undertook in the process of opening.

"We did a lot of research on names - we had a couple of names we'd been carrying around with us for a couple of years," Doug said. "The more research we did, the more we looked into the history of this building that had dated back, and every time we kept reading something, we kept reading about Uniontown. All of a sudden one day, I was like 'You know, we really need a name, what do you think about Uniontown?' We both looked at each other and said 'I like that.'"

"It was important to us to keep the integrity of the building," Anna added. "It was built in 1850, it's a beautiful building. It has a lot of character - the brick, the tin ceiling... that was important to us to try to keep that history and let it show."

Uniontown Brewing Co. is open Monday through Saturday, from 11 A.M. to 11 P.M. For more information, visit the Uniontown Brewing Co. Facebook Page.
