28 Year Old Marion Man Killed In 2 Vehicle Accident

Marion, OH – Ohio State Troopers from the Marion Post are investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that happened on State Route 203 and Keener Road at 11:15 am Wednesday.

A 2007 Cadillac CTS was traveling westbound on Keener Road approaching the intersection with State Route 203. A 2002 Nissan Altima was northbound on State Route 203 approaching the intersection with Keener Road. The Cadillac failed to stop at the stop sign striking the Nissan. The two vehicles traveled off the northwest corner of the intersection striking an electric pole before coming to rest in a field.

The Cadillac was driven by Harold Cook, age 32, of Marion. Mr. Cook was seriously injured and transported to Marion General Hospital by EMS. There were two other occupants in the Cadillac. Nikki Cooper, age 31, of Portsmouth was seriously injured and transported to Marion General Hospital. Aaron Mckelvy, age 28, of Marion, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dr. Mark Davis Marion County Coroner.

The Nissan was driven by David Short, age 40, of New Bloomington, was seriously injured and transported to Marion General Hospital by EMS. There was one other occupant in the Nissan. Joshua Osborne, age 37, of Marion, was seriously injured and transported to OSU Hospital by Med Flight.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Marion Township Fire Department and EMS, Green Camp Fire Department, New Vision Fire Department, First Advanced Ambulance Service, Med Care Ambulance Service, Med Flight, ODOT, Ed’s Towing, MARMET, and AEP.

This crash remains under investigation.
