BUCYRUS, OH - The Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on Route 30 East near the State Route 98 exit Thursday morning.

According to Trooper McLaughlin, a commercial dump truck was eastbound on US 30 when it blew a front tire. This caused the vehicle to travel off the left side of the roadway, hitting a guardrail. The collision caused the dump truck's load to shift in such a way that it caused the vehicle to topple over the guardrail on a bridged area and ultimately land in the Sandusky River below.

The driver was Life Flighted to St. Vincent's but is believed to be in stable condition, and was conscious while being treated by EMTs.

Both lanes of US 30 East were closed while responders worked to extract the driver. The Bucyrus Fire Department assisted on scene with their ladder truck in order to give responders an easier way to hoist the driver out of the area on a gurney.

In addition to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Crawford County Sheriff's Office also responded, as well as the Bucyrus Fire Department, Liberty Township Fire Department, and ODOT.
