GALION, OH - In conjunction with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has made grant funds for local law enforcement agencies throughout the state of Ohio to purchase body armor and protective equipment to keep officers safe while in the field.

On Monday morning, the City of Galion authorized the city's Safety Service Director to apply for and accept the grant, estimating a total sum of $2,382 to be used for the project to complete the purchase of the protective gear. Ordinance 2018-65 was determined to be an "emergency ordinance" and will take effect at the earliest time allowed by law passage.

Galion officials are expected to discuss the ordinance at the October 9th City Council Meeting, which will take place at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers.
