Driver Passes Away After Two Car Crash In Galion

GALION, OH - A driver has died following an accident on Monnett-New Winchester Road in Galion.

On October 11th at 11:53 AM emergency services responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Monnett-New Winchester Road and State Route 100. John Bays, a 42-year-old man from Gallipolis, Ohio, was driving a white 2016 Ford F150, owned by the Gundenkauf Corporation, east on Monnett-New Winchester when he failed to yield at the intersection. Bays drove into the northbound lane of State Route 100 and struck a white 2001 Toyota driven by 33-year-old Mitchell Davis of Bucyrus.

Medflight was originally called but canceled due to Davis passing away from his injuries. Bays was flown to Grant Hospital in critical condition. 

Jefferson Township Fire, State Highway Patrol, Crawford County Sheriff, Whetstone Fire Department, and the Galion Fire Department all responded to the scene.
