Three Vehicle Crash Leaves One Dead In Wooster

WOOSTER, OH - The Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three vehicle fatal crash. 

The crash occurred on Fredericksburg Road (County Road 501) south of E. Tolbert Road in Franklin Township in Wayne County. 

A 2009 Lincoln MKX, which was driven by 74-Year-Old Mary J. Yacapraro of Wooster, Ohio, was traveling south on Fredericksburg Road where she stopped to turn into a private drive. A 2007 Chevrolet Express van, driven by 25-year-old Paul S. Tracey of Wooster, Ohio, was traveling south on Fredericksburg Road. A 2015 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 18-year-old Michael E. Miller of Fredericksburg, Ohio, was traveling north on Fredericksburg road. 

Tracey failed to stop in assured clear distance and struck the rear of Mrs. Yacapraro's vehicle. Yacapraro's vehicle then went off the right (west) side of the roadway where it overturned causing her to be ejected. Tracey slid left of center striking Miller. Tracey's vehicle continued off the left side of the road (east) and overturned. 

Yacapraro injuries were too severe and she died at the scene. She was transported to McIntire Funeral Home. 

Tracey was seriously injured in the crash and was transported by Life Flight to Akron City Hospital. Tracey did not have on his safety belt at the time of the crash. 

Christa T. Combs, 20, of Wooster Ohio, was the passenger in Tracey's vehicle. Combs was injured from the crash and initially taken to the Wooster Community Hospital; she was later taken to Grant General Hospital. Ms. Combs did have on her safety belt at the time of the crash. 

Miller was not injured and did have on his safety belt at the time of the crash. 

The crash is the fifth fatal crash in Wayne County for 2018. 

Alcohol and drugs may have been a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation. 

Dr. Amy Joliff, Wayne County Coroner, Wooster Township Fire and EMS, South Central EMS, Life Flight, Wayne County Engineer's Office, North End Garage, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit assisted on scene.
