ASHLAND, OH - Ritzman Pharmacies, INC has announced through a press release that it will be selling its 20 retail pharmacies to CVS Pharmacy, including a location in Ashland.

The Ritzman pharmacy in Ashland is located inside Buehler's Fresh Foods at 1055 Sugarbush Drive. This pharmacy will be closing, along with locations in Wooster, Wooster Milltown,  Rittman, Shreve, Sugarcreek, Medina River Styx, Millersburg, Barberton, Wadsworth, Norton, Seville, Green, Orrville, Medina Forest Meadows, Dover, and Jackson. Pharmacy files from these locations will be transferred to the nearest CVS pharmacy store.

"We have worked hard to sustain the independently operated community pharmacy model and are disappointed to bring it to a close, but it is time to pass our retail business to a company with more resources," said Eric Graf, President and CEO of Ritzman. "While change is always difficult, especially after almost 70 years in business, customers and patients will benefit from having a wide range of products and services available and continued pharmacy care."

The acquisition is expected to be complete by the end of February, and the Ashland location's last day of operation will be February 4th. Ritzman-owned management company VAR will continue its management of Summa's Home Infusion. Both Ritzman and CVS are working together to provide customers with uninterrupted care, and the press release stated that CVS expects to interview any Ritzman Pharmacy employee who wishes to join the CVS team.

"CVS Pharmacy knows that Ritzman Pharmacy has been providing trusted pharmacy care for its patients for decades and we are excited to continue that tradition," said Evertt Moore, Division Vice President for CVS Pharmacy.

The Ritzman Pharmacy owners expressed gratitude to their patients, customers, associates, and communities for their support, stating: "We wish our customers, our associates, and their families a healthy future."
