ASHLAND, OH - Ohio Highway Patrol, Ashland EMS, Jeromesville Fire Department, and Jeromesville EMS responded to a 3-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 250, just West of the intersection of State Route 89, around 3:45 pm Monday afternoon.

Jose Rivera, 48, of Ashland, Ohio was driving a 2013 Dodge Pick-up, Eastbound on U.S. Route 250, when he went left of center and struck a Westbound Ford F-350. Rivera’s Dodge then continued Eastbound for approximately 80-yards, before striking the trailer of a Semi.

The first vehicle Rivera’s Dodge struck was a 2000 Ford F-350, driven by Dennis Dunbar, 67, of Metamora, Ohio. Dennis Dunbar had a passenger with him at the time of the crash.

The second vehicle was a 2014 International Semi driven by Michael Angelino, 28, of Parma, Ohio.

Angelino told WMFD he was sitting in his Semi after coming to a complete stop on the hill just before State Route 89. “There was a semi in front of me, waiting for a semi in front of this other guy to turn left on State Route 89.” “I saw him coming toward me when I looked in my mirror, I thought, ‘he is going to hit me.’’” Angelino continued, “Then he slammed into my trailer!

A witness at the scene said “the guy in the Ford F-350 got as far over as he could but, the other truck still hit him.” “Then he kept going till he ran into the back of that Semi.”

Another witness at the scene said, “the truck (meaning Rivera’s truck) passed her when they were going by the Fin Feather Fur Outfitters and he was going fast then.”

According to the Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol Trooper, Jose Rivera was transported by Jeromesville EMS to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Troopers, would not comment on the cause of the accident other than to say, “The crash is under investigation.”

No one else was transported, only minor injuries reported
