ASHLAND, OH - Since 1983, the Ashbrook Center at Ashland University has been a beacon for students learning political sciences to help them become strong leaders and prepare them for careers that will change their communities.

As part of the Ashbrook Center's fundraising efforts, the John M. Ashbrook Memorial Dinner has been held each year since the program's creation to help keep programs available for interested students. The dinner has attracted a number of high-profile guests and conservative leaders, such as U.S. President Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher, Mike Huckabee, and Tucker Carlson. This year's speaker was Governor Bobby Jindal of Lousiana.

Several awards were presented at Friday night's event, such as the Outstanding Ashbrook Scholar Alumnus Award, which was presented to Roger L. Beckett, and the John M. Ashbrook Award, which was presented to Marvin J. Krinsky.
