MANSFIELD, OH- The 2019 Mansfield Lahm Airport day brought hundreds out to the Mansfield Airport on Saturday.  Despite rain showers in the afternoon, the day was filled with lots of fun activities for families with children of all ages.

The day featured Young Eagles Flights where children ages 8-17 got to ride in an airplane for free.  Event coordinator, Jeff Angelini, said that the Young Eagles Flights are the biggest draw for the event.

"I think it's the birth of their love for aviation," Angelini said.  "I've talked to some of these pilots here and for some of them and this was their first opportunity is when they were a young eagle.".

Angelini said that community had an overwhelmingly positive response to this year’s event.

"A lot of energy out here.  The kids were just having a great time.  They'd come back off of their plane and come out here and see some of the static displays.  They were just all smiles," Angelini said.

Two scholarships were given away at the event to support students with a passion for aviation.

Other activities included a classic car show, bounce houses, and lots of food vendors.  Angelini said that annual event is a fun way to bring the community together.

"I think it's just a fun way to come out and blow off some steam," Angelini said.  "We had a lot of people out here today and they loved the car show, they loved all of these warbirds that are out here and it's just something to do on a beautiful day here in Mansfield."
