ONTARIO, OH - A water main break on Shelby-Ontario Road has forced city officials to issue a boil advisory and divert traffic around the affected area.

The residential area near 350 Shelby-Ontario road, just south of the entrance to Ontario Middle School, is currently inaccessible due to the large amount of standing water in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes.

Ontario Police are on-scene to help direct traffic and guide them away from the area as officials work to fix the problem.

The City of Ontario has issued a water boil advisory until Thursday for residents due to the water main break.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends to let water boil for one minute after letting it come to a rolling boil, and to pour the water into a clean container with a cover for storage. If bathing or showering, be careful not to swallow any water. Any cooking, cleaning, or washing dishes by hand must be done with boiled water to reduce the risk of infection.
